Kids Count! First Steps in Counting by Gary Davis & Catherine Pearn, is in the final editing stages, and will be available very soon.

This book is written primarily for parents and care-givers of children 2 – 10 years of age.

It describes, through detailed case scenarios, the stages of counting development that children need to go through to be successful at school arithmetic and mathematics.

The book  first explains, though simple activities, how a parent can assess their child’s current counting style, or type.

Then, many activities relevant to a child’s developmental level are described: these activities, with the guidance of an adult, are useful in helping a child move to more powerful types of counting.
